Derry Landmarks in Slate: The Peace Bridge, Guildhall & Free Derry Corner, Engraved to Last
Share
Derry has a skyline you won't find anywhere else — the Peace Bridge curving across the Foyle, the Guildhall's clock tower, Free Derry Corner standing exactly where it's stood for decades. If you're from here, or buying for someone who is, a generic "Ireland" gift rarely captures it. What does is something engraved with the actual place.
Every piece below is designed, engraved and finished by hand in our Derry workshop — not mass-produced, not shipped in from somewhere else. Each one is a small, permanent version of a landmark most of us walk past every day.
Derry City Skyline
For anyone who wants the whole city in one piece, our Derry City Skyline Slate brings together the Derry Walls, St Eugene's Cathedral, the Guildhall, the Peace Bridge, Free Derry Corner and Hands Across the Divide into a single 50cm x 25cm engraved panel. It's become one of our most requested pieces from Derry natives living abroad — the sort of gift that gets hung somewhere it'll be seen every day, not put in a drawer.

Peace Bridge & Guildhall
If one landmark says "Derry" more than any other in the last twenty years, it's the Peace Bridge. Our Peace Bridge & Guildhall engraving pairs it with the Gothic Guildhall rising behind, etched in vintage-style detail on natural black slate. Each piece is engraved individually, so no two are exactly alike. It's a popular choice for weddings and housewarmings, especially for Derry natives settling down somewhere else.

Free Derry Corner
Some landmarks carry more weight than others. Our Echoes of Derry piece is a 30cm x 20cm engraving of Free Derry Corner in fine-line detail on charcoal slate — less a decoration than a tribute. We hear from more customers about this piece than almost any other in the shop, usually people who grew up nearby or have family who did.

Heart of Éire
Not every gift needs to name a specific street corner. Our Heart of Éire piece — a gold-engraved outline of Ireland with "Éire" beneath — is a simpler way to say the same thing: proud, plain, and built to last. It sits well alongside any of the Derry-specific pieces above, or works on its own as a smaller, more affordable option.

All four pieces are part of our wider Celtic & Irish Designs collection, and every one ships with the option of a display stand. If you'd like a specific landmark, street name or date added that isn't already listed, our Custom Order page is the place to start — we're based five minutes from most of these landmarks, so we tend to know exactly what you're picturing.
