Introducing Ogham Blessing: A Small Blessing in Irish Slate

We've just added a new piece to the workshop: the Ogham Blessing collection — four slate plaques, each carrying a single Gaelic word, its meaning, and a line of Ogham script running the length of the stone.

It's an idea that grew naturally out of our Celtic & Irish Designs pieces and the Ogham lettering we've used across the shop from the start. Where our Celtic Whisper coasters carry a word for the table, Ogham Blessing is built for the wall — something to hang and live with, rather than pass around.

Four plaques, four words:

Sonas — Happiness. Joy found in small, daily things.
Dóchas — Hope. The quiet stubbornness of believing things will turn.
Fáilte — Welcome. A hundred thousand welcomes, and then some.
Beannacht — Blessing. May this small stone hold a little of home for you.

Ogham Blessing engraved Irish slate plaque by Foyle Engraving Co

Each plaque is engraved and gold-toned by hand in our Derry workshop, then finished on a waxed cord ready to hang — no extra fittings needed. An optional slate display stand is available if you'd rather it stood on a shelf than hung on a wall.

We made this one with a few moments in mind in particular: a new home that needs a Fáilte by the door, a friend who could use a bit of Dóchas right now, or someone far from Ireland who'd like a small, physical piece of it on their wall — a Beannacht that travels well. As with everything we make, if there's a word you'd rather see in Ogham that isn't one of the four, get in touch through our Custom Order page and we'll see what we can do.
